Dear Minister Blair;

I am writing to you to urge you to consider following our established democratic parliamentary process. As a legal, licensed firearms owner for over 10 years I have never harmed anyone, nor have the vast majority of Firearms Possession and Acquisition License holders. As you well know PAL holders are subject to daily Continuous Eligibility Screening. PAL holders are subject to more scrutiny than convicted sex offenders, parolees, or police officers. PAL holders are also statistically the safest, least violent, and least criminally inclined Canadians. The data from Statistics Canada and the RCMP show these facts to be true.

For your government to want use heavy-handed policies via Orders In Council to strip these upstanding Canadians of their privately held property is an affront to both common sense and the rule of law. Prohibiting PAL holders from continuing to own the same semi-automatic rifles we have responsibly used for decades , does nothing to further public safety, and it circumvents the democratic process and discussions of our elected representatives in the House. The governments proposed plan to use Orders in Council to strip law-abiding Canadian’s of their property is unconscionable. You need to take a sober second look at producing real meaningful policy and put less effort into pandering to scared voters in Toronto and Montreal that are fearful of the drug dealers and gangsters using illegal guns to terrorize their cities.

Sincerely,

Dear Minister Blair;

I am writing to you to express my deep concern with actions your government is taking to unfairly target lawful gun owners. Your proposed “solution” ban legally acquired firearms from lawful owners and implement a buy back program is insulting to millions of law-abiding Canadian voters. The proposal to ban “assault weapons” in nonsensical and I expect that as a former police chief you know that the Firearms Act already prohibits Canadians from acquiring fully automatic machine guns. The idea of banning certain semi-automatic firearms based on their appearance should be repugnant to anyone that has a modicum of sense. Your time and effort would be much better spent combating actual criminals that use illegally possessed and often smuggled pistols while committing other crimes in urban centres. Canadians expect better of you then this pandering rhetoric and the appearance of doing something while not accomplishing the goal of making any Canadian safer from common criminals toting illicit handguns.

Sincerely,

Dear Minister Blair;

I am writing to you today to express my deep concern with actions your government is taking to unfairly target lawful gun owners. You have stated publicly that you would be using an Order In Council to ban legally acquired firearms from lawful owners and would be implementing a buy back program. I find these measures to be an egregious overreach of executive authority and a waste of valuable taxpayer resources. I urge your government to reconsider investing this money in programs and measures to combat crime, support at risk youth initiatives and community programming. It is incumbent on you and your colleagues to make every legitimate effort to fight actual crime and to bring forth your ideas to the Commons where it may be studied and debated by all Members of Parliament. It is imperative you keep in mind that western Canada fully rejected the policies and platforms of your government and overall Liberal support was greatly diminished.

Sincerely,

This week Ian, Gavin, and Andrew talk about the possible Liberal media license plan that got walked back with in a day. Despite Veteran’s asking “for more than we can give” the Liberals left $105M meant for veterans unspent in last fiscal year. Last year’s deficient was five times larger than 2018. Of course, we talked about gun bans.
